The Zone Logic in Frenchieland Frenchies is one of the most dynamic and strategic features of the game. Rather than just running endlessly in a straight line, the world scales vertically into three distinct areas. As you climb higher, the rules of physics, scoring, speed, and survival completely change.
The Environment: This is your starting area. You'll run across standard platforms and dodge or destroy Thorn Bushes.
Mechanics: This is the only zone where you can use your Dash ability to smash through obstacles. You can also find magical Fairies here that grant flat point bonuses.
The Catch (Speed): The ground is dangerous because it accelerates infinitely until it hits the absolute maximum game speed (800). If you stay on the ground too long, it will eventually become too fast to survive!
Scoring: Grants moderate points over distance.
The Environment: Once you jump high enough, the fog parts and you enter the Sky, featuring cloud platforms, special food-themed platforms (like bacon and donuts), and flying enemies like Eagles and Veggies.
Mechanics: No Dashing allowed! You must rely entirely on your timing and double-jumps. Standard power-ups (like Magnets and Pills) start spawning in this zone.
The Catch (Scoring vs. Safety): The Sky is a "safe haven" because it has a much lower speed cap (300 to 500, depending on how far you've traveled). However, the trade-off is that distance scoring is drastically reduced here. It's safe, but you won't set high-score records just surviving in the clouds.
The Environment: The ultimate high-risk, high-reward area. You run across floating ground-beef platforms while dodging alien Giardia enemies.
The Point of No Return: Once you successfully land on a Space platform, the game deletes the Ground and Sky zones below you. You are locked into deep space. If you fall below the space platforms, you die instantly.
The Reward (Massive Scoring): Space is where Emperors are made! Base distance scoring is doubled, and the point values for ALL positive food items are multiplied by 2x.
Portals: Because you are locked in, the only way to safely return to the Ground zone and reset the board is to catch a spinning Cosmic Portal power-up.
The most brilliant part of the game's zone logic is the Independent Speed Memory.
Every zone has its own separate speedometer. If you are running on the Ground and it gets way too fast (e.g., speed 700), you can jump up into the Sky. The moment you enter the Sky, you drop down to the Sky's relaxed speed limit (e.g., 300).
However, the game remembers that the Ground was at 700. If you fall back down to the Ground later, you will instantly be launched back into that blistering 700 speed! This forces players to strategically bounce between zones to manage the game's pacing.
Floating throughout the world (specifically in the Sky and Space zones), you will find power-ups and special Kibble bowls that grant temporary, game-changing abilities.
Standard Power-Ups (Last for 10 seconds, except Hearts & Portals):
Trophy: Transforms platforms into gold, which grants massive bonus points just for running on them.
Magnet: Attracts all positive food items and collectibles right to you, so you don't have to jump for them.
Ghost: Causes platforms to blink in and out of existence, granting a unique phase challenge.
Pill: Gives your Frenchie a massive 2.5x speed boost.
X2 Points: Doubles the points you earn from all collectibles.
Heart: Instantly restores 1 Life (up to a maximum of 3).
Portal: A cosmic rift that teleports you safely between the Ground and Space zones.
Iron Stomach: For 10 seconds, toxic food items are flipped into positive points and touching enemies awards +10,000 points instead of dealing damage! (Note: A single-use consumable version is also available in the Smoothie Store that blocks your first toxic penalty.)
Super Kibbles:
Kryptokibble (Green Glow): Grants 15 seconds of flight where you are completely invincible and can shoot an auto-targeting laser beam from your eyes to destroy enemies.
Supakibble (Rainbow Glow): The ultimate 15-second "God Mode" that gives you the Magnet, 2x Points, Invisibility/Invincibility against enemies, the Trophy effect, the Pill speed boost, AND +1 Life all at the same time.
Pure Gold Kibble (Gold Glow): An ultra-rare item that doesn't give an ability, but instantly awards a massive 5,000,000 base points, which doubles in Space and multiplies with your combo.
As you collect food during your runs, it gets blended into
Cosmic Smoothies (oz), which act as your main currency. You can spend these in the Store to buy powerful perks.
Pre-Run Consumables (Single Use):
The Supa-Start: Start your very next run with the ultimate Supakibble aura active.
Krypto-Launch: Start your run flying high in Krypto mode.
Iron Stomach: Gives you a shield that blocks your first toxic item penalty.
Dash Overdrive: Removes the cooldown on your Dash ability for the first 2,000 meters of your run.
Zoomies Surge: Instantly launches your Frenchie at the absolute maximum ground speed.
Combo Insurance: If you accidentally eat a toxic item, your combo multiplier is only halved instead of resetting all the way to zero.
Permanent Upgrades (Can be leveled up 5 times):
Extended Magnet: Adds +2 seconds to your Magnet duration per level.
Combo Sustainer: Gives you +1 second of grace period before your combo timer runs out per level.
Double-Jump Hyper: Increases the height of your mid-air double jump by 15% per level.
Smart Sweeper: Increases your collection "hitbox" by 20% per level, making it easier to snag items.
The Black Market is an exclusive shop that deals only in
Golden Bones—a premium currency you can find out in the world. These items offer exotic, game-breaking effects for your next run:
Zone Skipper: Spawns a portal right at the starting line that warps you directly into the Space Zone.
Void Trampoline: If you fall into a pit, a golden cloud will catch you, lift you to the next safe platform, and give you 3 seconds of invincibility.
Gold Kibble Beacon: Guarantees that the first kibble you see in Space is Pure Gold, and triggers a 10-second "Gold Rampage" where EVERY item you touch pays out massive points.
Golden Revive: Automatically brings you back to life once per run if you die, granting 3 seconds of invincibility.
Fame Injector: Takes your final score at the end of the run and multiplies it by 1.5x before adding it to your Lifetime Fame.
As you run through Frenchieland, you'll find food items scattered across platforms. Collecting positive items earns you points and builds your combo multiplier. But beware — some items are toxic to French Bulldogs and will cost you dearly!

Just like the zones, the threats evolve as you climb higher, requiring completely different strategies to survive.
Thorn Bushes
Where to find them: Only on the Ground.
Behavior: These are stationary obstacles rather than moving enemies, but they are deadly. Hitting one will instantly end your run unless you have a shield.
How to defeat them: You must use your Dash ability to smash through them. Successfully dashing through a Thorn Bush will set it on fire, clearing the path and granting you a small point bonus!
The Veggie Family
Where to find them: Patrolling specific platforms (like Clouds, Bacon, and Donuts) in the Sky Zone.
Behavior: These toxic vegetables are your main platforming threat in the sky. They come in several animated variants:
•
Avocados: Bulkier enemies that take up more space.
•
Onions: Can be found walking or running.
•
Garlic: The most unpredictable—they can walk, bite, or even stand completely stationary while breathing garlic breath!
Special Trait: Unlike other enemies that disappear when destroyed by God-mode power-ups, Veggies have special "whacked" and "die" animations when you hit them with a Krypto Laser or Supakibble.
The Eagles
Where to find them: Flying through the air in the Sky Zone.
Behavior: These aerial predators don't stick to platforms. Instead, they spawn off-screen and fly in a dangerous zig-zag pattern, bouncing up and down between the top and bottom of your screen. They come in:
•
Standard Eagles
•
Grey Horn Eagles
•
Gold Horn Eagles
Alien Giardias
Where to find them: Deep Space.
Behavior: These glowing, extraterrestrial parasites are the ultimate threat. They come in three neon-lit colors:
•
Blue Giardias and
Purple Giardias: These spawn directly on the floating space platforms, blocking your jumps.
•
Gold Giardias: These act like the Eagles of space, spawning in the air and flying toward you in a rapid zig-zag pattern.
Where to find it: It can spawn in the upper zones.
Behavior: The Sun is a massive, high-priority threat that operates on a strict schedule, spawning at specific distance milestones (e.g., 1000m, then 1500m, etc.). It takes up a huge portion of the screen and bounces aggressively up and down.
The Penalty: You really do not want to touch the Sun. Aside from taking damage, getting burned by the Sun immediately deducts a staggering 1,000,000 points from your score!
Pro tip: If you don't have an invincibility power-up (like Supakibble or Kryptokibble), your only option is to jump over enemies or dodge them! Taking a hit will cost you a life and instantly break your combo multiplier.
Everything you do in the game contributes to your Lifetime Fame (XP). As your total score accumulates across all your runs, you will level up and unlock prestigious Fame Titles.
You start out with humble beginnings but can work your way through 20 different ranks. Some of the amazing titles you can earn include:
• Neighborhood Loaf
• Master of the Zoomies
• Grand Champion Splooter
• Intergalactic Good Boy
• ...all the way up to the ultimate title: Emperor and Supreme Sovereign of Frenchieland!
To truly test your skills, the game features a set of Cosmic Challenges broken down into 4 Tiers of difficulty:
• Tier 1: Novice Frenchie (The Fundamentals)
• Tier 2: Adept Frenchie (The Power User)
• Tier 3: Expert Frenchie (The Rule Breaker)
• Tier 4: God-Tier Frenchie (The Ultimate Mastery)
Each tier has 5 specific tasks you must accomplish during your runs to unlock the next level. Examples of challenges include:
• The Lumberjack: Use your dash to burn 10 thorn bushes in a single run.
• Veggie Dodger: Survive long enough to see 10 vegetable enemies pass off the screen without taking damage.
• The Fasting Frenchie: Reach 1,500m without collecting a single piece of food.
• The Flawless Frenchie: Reach 4,000m (The Space Zone) without taking a single point of damage.
Frenchieland Frenchies was created by Keith Neal as his very first game, fully "vibe-coded" from the ground up! Keith's initial core concept for the game had to evolve and adapt to meet the strict deadline of the Cursor 2026 Vibe Game Jam.
To pull off this incredible feat, the development process relied on a powerful, modern AI workflow:
• Ideation & Assets: Gemini was utilized to brainstorm game systems, generate creative assets, and write targeted, drop-in code blocks.
• The Heavy Lifting: Claude was deployed to handle the dense coding and complex architectural logic.
• Integration: Cursor served as the AI-native integration hub, seamlessly inserting those precise code snippets directly into the project files.
• Music Production: Suno.ai was used to compose and generate the game's original soundtrack.
• Rapid Iteration: Finally, Live Server provided instant visual feedback.
This workflow completed a seamless development loop, allowing Keith to step back and act as the true Creative Director while the AI rapidly built the game around his vision.
Once the Cursor Game Jam wraps up, the journey is just beginning. Keith plans to return to his original, expansive vision for Frenchieland Frenchies—the ambitious core concept he was developing before the jam's deadline shifted his focus.
The next phase involves a complete overhaul of the game's assets, gearing up for a massive, free-to-play release on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. But the most exciting feature on the horizon? Real-world stakes. Keith plans to blur the lines between gaming and reality by hosting massive public challenges where top players can compete to win actual, tangible rewards. These real-world prizes could potentially even include living prizes, such as real-life French Bulldog puppies (though this is subject to change at any time!).
While fully revamping the graphics and expanding the mechanics will take some dedicated development time, Keith is incredibly eager to get this definitive version into players' hands. Keep an eye out—the official worldwide launch is targeted for late Q3 or early Q4 of this year!
